Congressman Andrew Garbarino, in partnership with assemblyman Jarett Gandolfo, East Islip School District, and NYPD Sports Unit, held a First Responder Youth Volleyball Clinic at East Islip Middle School, on Saturday, March 18, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The NYPD men’s and women’s volleyball teams worked with more than 100 children in grades 3-12.
Some highlights of the event included SCPD police officer Sean Peterson and K9 Brick performing a popular K9 demo for kids. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office also provided Operation Child ID photos and information, which were uploaded into the National Database for Missing Children.
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Health and Wellness Unit were on hand to offer healthy treats and promotional information regarding wellness tips for students. Coastal MD was also there with giveaways, refreshing beverages, and pertinent information on healthy habits for children. Islip Exchange Ambulance Company was onsite to keep everyone safe.
Tables were set up at the event by Garbarino and Gandolfo with constituent resources, and a fun, healthful, and educational time was had by all in attendance.
