Main Street businesses host scavenger hunt for local theater tickets

Autumn Piñeyro, of Bayport, celebrated being the recipient of the coveted “Golden Ticket” from CM Performing Arts Center’s scavenger hunt this past weekend.

Autumn, who has not seen “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” which is playing at CMPAC through July 26, was excited to win her prize of two tickets to the production and a backstage pass at Tiggy Winks while dressed up in princess fashion.

According to mother, Danielle, Autumn is very “excited” to see the show.

The scavenger hunt for the seven golden tickets (the promotion was so popular, the theater had to add two additional prizes to the well-known five golden tickets of the movie) was the brainchild of Brendan Noble, marketing coordinator for CMPAC.

“Just like how in the movie where Wonka sends five golden tickets hidden in wrappers across the world, I wanted to give five businesses a golden ticket. After coordinating with the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce, we provided different Main Street businesses with the ticket, and it was up to them how they wanted to give the ticket away,” said Noble.

The Wharf in Oakdale took a sixth ticket that anyone who booked last weekend on the Tiki Boat Tours was automatically entered to win, and lastly, Pinball Long Island in Patchogue took the seventh in honor of their Willy Wonka pinball machine.

“The ultimate goal was not only to help promote ‘Willy Wonka,’ but to work collaboratively with the community in a fun, immersive, and creative way. We hope to do more giveaways and partnerships like this in the near future,” said Noble.

Tiggy Winks owner, Donna Herting, said she was delighted to help connect the community to a local theater through her business.

“I love supporting other small businesses anyway I can. With small business, word of mouth is always the best advertising. So, I always promote and send customers to other small shops to help them find what they need,” said Herting. “What a great way CM Performing Arts Center had come up with to spread the word—a fun scavenger hunt through Sayville town! The arts are so inclusive to all children and a wonderful way for a child to express themselves.”

With a wide variety of apparel for young theatergoers to don at a CMPAC production this summer, Tiggy Winks has a special discount QR code in store for anyone still looking to purchase “Willy Wonka” tickets.
