On Monday, Sept. 11, our local heroes paid another year of tribute to those who lost, or risked, their lives on that unforgettable day.
The Bellport Fire Department, South Country Ambulance, and Village of Bellport hosted their annual 9/11 service in honor of those who were lost. The event was held on Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at Bellport Village Marina, in front of the memorial, featuring a piece of steel from the tower that was bent and mangled and has been preserved by the village.
The veterans’ organizations of Patchogue, including Patchogue American Legion Post 269 and VFW Post 2913 and Amvets Post 111, hosted the Village of Patchogue’s annual 9/11 memorial service at the 9/11 Memorial Park on Cedar Avenue at 9 a.m. Also, the Patchogue Fire Department hosted their annual 9/11 service at the firehouse located on Jennings Avenue at 6 p.m.
