On Sunday, June 9, the Long Island Maritime Museum hosted “Keels and Wheels” with vintage transport examples in automobiles, motorcycles, and boats.
Among the car makes were Jaguar, Corvette, MG, and the Ford Mustang.
A popular model was the Black Beast, which, built in 1909, won two Vanderbilt Cup races in Suffolk County.
Over a dozen vintage motorcycles braved the rain outside the gazebo.
The funds, with a $5 per person suggested donation, will all go towards the tonging boat vessel Vixen (built in 1888) for conversion to a land exhibit.
Currently, the boat’s hull is in the Ockers Building and its cabin in the Penny Boat Shop.
