Holiday events in Bellport Village

arade and tree lighting, Saturday, Dec. 4

The annual holiday tree lighting will take place at the gazebo on the Village Green across from the Community Center at 6 p.m., just after the parade, which begins at 5:45 p.m. at the Bellport Fire Department.

Children will have a chance to meet Santa and tell him their Christmas wish, or send off their full Christmas lists in the mail.

Officials at Village Hall said the tree lighting is a special event in the village because it is a small, intimate event that provides a true “hometown” feeling.

Wreaths from the village’s annual wreath contest will also soon adorn Main Street’s poles and other areas throughout Bellport Village’s Business District, each hand-decorated by dozens of residents and their families.

Some examples of the decorated wreaths from last year include a deer head made from natural fall materials, an artistic version of the community center, and some include ornaments, shells and other materials.

Those who wish to view and vote can do so on Main Street and the surrounding blocks, or look online on the village’s website. Votes can be made at any of the participating local shops and restaurants or by emailing info@bellportvillageny.gov.

Santa Run, Sunday, Dec. 19

The Bellport Fire Department will be taking Santa for a tour of the community to hand out candy canes starting at noon. The department will bring Santa through all of its districts to visit families. Run starts at approximately 10 a.m.

Wishing Tree, Greater Bellport Boys & Girls Club

This year the club is asking contributors to choose to take a tree for their office or order online as they did last year. A link will be made available soon.
