Helping families in need

Posted

At the beginning of every school year for 25 years, the Patchogue-Medford Congress of Teachers, through their community outreach, and the Lions Club of Patchogue, through their community betterment, have donated school supplies to the Patchogue-Medford School District for families of elementary students who face financial hardship.  This year is no exception, as both organizations have made their annual donation for families that are unable to afford what they need for school.  The donation was accepted this year by superintendent of schools Dr. Donna Jones from Lions Club immediate past president Peter Feehan and Patchogue-Medford Congress of Teachers president Kevin Toolan (center).  Dr. Jones expressed the district’s gratitude to both organizations for their ongoing concern for the students of the district, who returned to school on Wednesday, Sept. 6.  Pictured are members of the PMCT, Lions members, and the district’s elementary school principals. Community members wishing to donate school supplies can contact the Patchogue-Medford Family Center at (631) 687-6751.
