The Central Islip Senior High School Class of 1984 walked down memory lane on Saturday, July 20.

The group of alumni from the Class of 1984 were led by high school students on a personalized tour to revisit the classrooms, cafeteria, gym and other favorite spots throughout the school.

“It’s been so great being back,” said Malissa Freese, the committee chair of the Class of 1984. “Not many of us still live on Long Island, so being able to connect and build the committee was very special.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sharon A. Dungee was in attendance to extend her thanks and gratitude to the class for their dedication to stay involved in the Central Islip community.

“This weekend has been wonderful,” Freese said. “The turnout we’ve had has been great. People that have stopped in and made time to meet with classmates have been wonderful.”

The current Central Islip students who volunteered their time to lead tours were Leticia Kim, Tiffany Chuquilin, Andrea Funez, Ijdsrobo Dudoh, and Camille Williams.

“Everyone’s in awe,” Freese said with a smile. “The high school looks like it’s been improved exponentially since we got here. I hope more classes take the time to do what we’ve done this weekend.”
