A blight study, police substation, and sewer system are all on the table to help rebuild Mastic Beach.

Ducky Lane in Mastic Beach, which was the home of Paul Breschard, the first mayor of the Village of Mastic Beach, will be renamed “Paul Breschard Way” in his honor. Breschard died in October 2016 at age 66.

A program proposed by Legis. Rudy Sunderman would give some assistance to small business owners who need to hook up to the sewer system in Mastic and Shirley, after a resolution passed in January approving of phases one and two. Only businesses in the approved phases are available for this program right now.

Residents approved the creation of the Forge River Sewer District Tuesday, with 87 percent voting yes.

Former Suffolk County Legislator Kate Browning (WF-Shirley), who was term listed and ran in the Democratic primary challenging Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin, is mulling over political possibilities.
