If you’re looking for classical music without making a trip, the West Islip Symphony Orchestra will be performing a concerto showcase on March 29. Starting at 3 p.m., audience members will experience the works of Handel, Mozart and Saint-Saens. The concert will be held at Beach Street Middle School in West Islip.
The pieces that are expected to be performed are Mozart, “Idomeneo Overture”; Mozart, “Sinfonia Concertante” (1st mvt); Handel, “Concerto Grosso, Opus 6, No. 1”; Williams, “Theme from Schindler’s List”; and Saint-Saêns, “Cello Concerto No. 1.” The orchestra is made up of musicians from West Islip and neighboring communities.
Paul Little currently serves as the music director and conductor of the West Islip Symphony Orchestra. Little has been with the orchestra since 2013 and director since 2018.
