Time to help with school supplies

As summer begins to wind down, we at Helping Makes U Happy are still going full-speed ahead.  In addition to the 29 families we supply food to weekly, we are also preparing for the backpack and school supplies collection we’ll be doing to ensure that each of the 64 students in the families will be all set when school opens.

If anyone wants to donate an extra new backpack they might see on sale, or school supplies, we’d be most grateful. Our filled backpacks are delivered on the last day of our Summer of Feeding Families Program, which ends on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, we were very happy to participate in the National Night Out—a nationwide initiative to fight crime by hosting community-driven, family-friendly events—at William Floyd High School from 5 to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 13, we’ll be out sharing information and promoting our Helping Makes U Happy mission at the Eastport General Store’s pop-up community event.

On Thursday, Aug. 18, mom and I are thrilled to be honorees at Caitlyn’s Vision’s annual gala, which will be held at Giorgio’s.  Caitlyn’s Vision is an amazing nonprofit that does awesome work promoting children’s eye health, and we often partner with them to help folks in need.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer, and we thank you so much for your continued support of Helping Makes U Happy!
