For the 80th day of school, students in the Bayport-Blue Point School District dressed up in 1980s gear to celebrate.
During a school yard call-out at Blue Point Elementary, children were asked to shout what came to mind when they thought about the ‘80s, the decade of perms and power brokers.
Here are some of the answers:
“Trampolines didn’t have safety nets.” (From a “Bluey” episode)
“Parents wrote their kids’ names on everything!” (Also from a “Bluey” episode)
“Bright colors and high ponytails were popular.”
“The ‘80s had great music!”
“What does a Lite-Brite do? Like does it do anything?”
“Our teachers showed us pictures of Cabbage [Patch] dolls—those look creepy!”
“The ‘80s look crazy!”
“Why would people spin on their heads?”
“Why did the gloves never have fingers?”
