Thanksgiving is a time to reflect upon our blessings. It’s a time to remember what we have and what we’re thankful for. It’s also a time to remember those who are less fortunate. We’ve identified a number of Thanksgiving food drives in our area and we hope you take a moment to help a local family in need.
Thanksgiving for all
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Islip
On Nov. 19 at 11 a.m., volunteers are encouraged to drop off bags of food at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Office Building, located at 754 Montauk Highway in Islip. Each bag will go to a family and will contain nonperishable items for Thanksgiving and other holiday dinners. If possible, each bag should contain at least eight items. A typical bag might include (this is only an example-you’ll create your own): one can of green beans; one can cream of mushroom soup; one box onion rings; stuffing mix; Jiffy cornbread; gravy; cranberry sauce; olives or nuts.
