Argyle Theatre Treat your friends and family to a show this year with tickets to performances at the Argyle Theatre in Babylon. From Nov. 21 through Nov. 30, The Argyle will be offering a gift card promotion for a $20 bonus with every $100 gift card purchased. In addition, the theater is selling their season ticket packages for $250 for all four mainstage shows. Playing now through Jan. 1 is Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”

Holiday shopping weekend at Sagtikos Manor From Friday, Nov. 25 through Saturday, Nov. 27, Sagtikos Manor will be hosting holiday shopping at their gift shop at the rear of the manor. The store will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. (Please note that only cash and checks will be accepted; no credit cards at this time.) In addition to the gift shop, visitors will also be able enter the Chinese auction raffle during the holiday weekend sale. The raffle contains many themed baskets to choose from.

Town of Islip holiday festival and market On Saturday, Dec. 3, join the Town of Islip at Brookwood Hall in East Islip for a holiday festival and market. The event will take place from noon to 8 p.m., rain or shine, and will feature ice-carving demonstrations throughout the day, food and craft vendors, a visit with Santa, ice-skating rink, and a fire pit and s’mores. From 3:30 to 8:30 p.m., there will be a free shuttle from the Islip Town Hall and the Islip train station for the event.

Cosmic Dreams Apothecary 469 Main Street, Islip This dreamy shop on Main Street in Islip just celebrated their one-year anniversary. The store features gorgeous jewelry, tarot cards and books, soaps made in-house, as well as crystals galore for shoppers to peruse. In addition, the shop hosts many different events such as tarot card readings and yoga.

Country Village Florist and Gifts 212 East Main Street, East Islip Jeanine Amato, the owner of Country Village Florist, said that her candles with fun sayings on them are big sellers for gifts, along with the decadent Neuhaus chocolates she sells in the shop. Amato also has a multitude of holiday decorations, and of course, floral arrangements on hand.

Started in 2010, as a campaign for American Express, Small Business Saturday is an important day for local retailers that reminds holiday shoppers to shop small and frequent mom-and-pop stores for Christmas gifts. Over the years, the event, which takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving, has grown, with many local chambers of commerce participating. The Islip Bulletin has put together a list of some great local shops and locations to check out this year for holiday gifts.
