Posted

For the third consecutive year, the William Floyd High School Medical Club under the direction of science educator Terri Randall, raised and donated funds to help support the great work that that the Child Life Department at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital conducts on a daily basis. This year, the Medical Club donated $650 bringing the three-year total to $1,670.

Members of the Medical Club, along with Stony Brook Child Life Department representatives, met to mark the occasion via Zoom, and Stony Brook officials held up the large ceremonial check. Additionally, the students learned about the role that a child life specialist serves at the hospital.

The Child Life Department at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital helps to keep children feeling comfortable and cared for during the length of their hospitalization and to help reduce the stress that pediatric patients and their families may face during an uncertain time facing illness, medical procedures and unfamiliar surroundings.
