The National Weather Service recently announced a hurricane and storm surge watch for southwest Suffolk Counties in preparation for Hurricane Henri.
In it's briefing the weather service said to "plan for dangerous wind of equivalent strong tropical storm force" with potential for 58 to 73 mph winds. Strong winds may begin to be felt as early as later Saturday August 21. The weather service also noted that the "window of concern" for the storm surge will be early Sunday morning August 22 until Sunday evening with widespread rainfall of two to four inches. As of this writing the National Weather Service said Hurricane Henri will likely hit Long Island as a Category 1 Hurricane.
