Over the next few weeks, there will be a myriad of holiday events and activities to attend in the area. The Islip Bulletin has put together a list of some of the events to check out with the family.

Holiday Bazaar & Luncheon

On Saturday, Dec. 3, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will be hosting their annual craft and vendor sale at 754 Montauk Hwy., Islip, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ornaments, baked goods, greenery, jewelry, raffles and more. Visit from Santa. Call 631-581-4950.

Holiday Concert

On Sunday, Dec. 11, the Long Island Harmonizers will perform four-part a cappella harmony in barbershop style at Bay Shore-Brightwaters Library, 1 p.m. Register online or call 631-665-4350.

Holiday at Sagtikos Manor

From Friday, Nov. 25 through Saturday, Nov. 27, Sagtikos Manor will be hosting holiday shopping at their gift shop at the rear of the manor. The store will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. (Please note that only cash and checks will be accepted; no credit cards at this time.)

In addition to the gift shop, visitors will also be able enter the Chinese auction raffle during the holiday weekend sale. The raffle contains many themed baskets to choose from.

On Nov. 26, the Village of Brightwaters will be hosting their annual Christmas tree lighting at the top of the canal at 5 p.m. Santa will be arriving at 5 p.m. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served with music to be enjoyed from the Bay Shore High School choir.

Small Business Saturday

Come enjoy the winter festival sponsored by the Bay Shore Beautification Society on Saturday, Nov. 26. From 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the bandshell on Main Street, there will be community caroling with the Bay Shore High School Harmonaires.

Historical Society Snowflake Sale

On Saturday, Nov. 26, the Bay Shore Historical Society will be holding their annual Snowflake Sale and Winter Open House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 22 Maple Avenue in Bay Shore. A special visit from Victorian Santa will begin at 11 a.m., so stop by with your camera for a free family photo opportunity.

Town of Islip
holiday festival and market

On Saturday, Dec. 3, join the Town of Islip at Brookwood Hall in East Islip for a holiday festival and market. The event will take place from noon to 8 p.m., rain or shine, and will feature ice-carving demonstrations throughout the day, food and craft vendors, a visit with Santa, ice-skating rink and a fire pit and s’mores. From 3:30 to 8:30 p.m., there will be a free shuttle from the Islip Town Hall and the Islip train station for the event.

Islip Santa parade and tree lighting

Santa’s official arrival to Islip is slated for Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. The parade will line up and kick off at Town Hall West 401 Main Street, Islip, at 3 p.m. The parade will proceed east to Town Hall at 655 Main Street, Islip, with a tree lighting to follow.

East Islip tree lighting

On Tuesday, Dec. 6 ,the East Islip Community Chamber of Commerce will host their annual tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. at Craig B. Gariepy Memorial Park at the intersection of Lowell and Connetquot Avenue. The event will feature performances by The Reactions, RCK band and chorus, Dance Arts Development Center, baton twirlers, East Islip Theater Company and Santa.

Islip Arts Council holiday market

The Islip Arts Council will be holding a holiday market at the IAC Gallery in the Westfield South Shore Mall on Dec. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
