Hanukkah celebrations around town

Posted

The first day of Hanukkah falls on Sunday, Dec. 18, and both the Greater Sayville and Bayport-Blue Point Chambers are hosting events to celebrate the start of the holiday that evening.

The Bayport-Blue Point Chamber’s event will be held at Chamber Park, at the intersection of Nicholls Road and Montauk Highway at 5 p.m., led by Rabbi Jessica Rosenthal of B’nai Israel Reform Temple in Oakdale.

The Fish Store will be providing hot chocolate and cookies. (BBP Chamber board member, Lenore Prezioso’s famed rugelach has not been confirmed to make an appearance this year, but the community is hopefull.)

The Greater Sayville Chamber will host their Hanukkah night at the Chamber House on the corner of Main Street and Lincoln Avenue at 6 p.m.

The annual event will feature a menorah lighting, candlelit prayers, music, Hanukkah gelt, donuts, and potato latkes, led by Rabbi Warren Weiss.
