The winning continues for William Floyd freshman phenom Zariel Macchia, who this past weekend was crowned All-New York State and All-Federation in both the 800-meter run and the 1500-meter run at the New York State Track and Field Championships held at Cicero-North Syracuse High School in Cicero, N.Y. This latest dominant performance comes on the heels of winning two events at the Suffolk State qualifier—the 1,500-meter and the 3,000-meter—and she placed a close second in the 800-meter.

Macchia was also recently selected to receive the Frank LaBianca Award for the second consecutive year, an honor is presented to the most outstanding distance runner in Suffolk County as voted upon by the Suffolk County Coaches Association. Macchia will be competing this upcoming weekend in the 3,000-meter run at the New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia, Pa., along with her teammate Aaliyah Jordan, who will compete in the 2,000-meter steeplechase. Congratulations and good luck at the New Balance Nationals!
