County, EAC Network to host car seat safety event this week

Posted

As of November 2019, New York State law requires all children under 2 years of age to ride in a rear-facing car seat.

With this in mind, the Suffolk County Police Department 7th Precinct and nonprofit EAC Network will organize an informational event at the Mastic Fire Department this week.

Parents can schedule a free appointment for Saturday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to ensure that their car seats are properly installed in their vehicles. The Suffolk County Police Department’s Community Relations Bureau will have certified technicians on-site to inspect car seats and provide parents with essential information about child passenger safety.

Appointments are necessary to attend.  The session will take place at the Mastic Fire Department located at 1080 Mastic Road, Mastic, N.Y. 11950.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only one caregiver is permitted to attend. Children are not permitted. Social distancing and masks are required.

This program is funded in part by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration with a grant from the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
