Concerts, snapper derby and old-timer’s game

Summer events are officially back on

As of this Saturday, Aug. 7, the Village of Patchogue will once again be offering their bandshell concert series at Shorefront Park.

The series will start with That ‘70s Band and followed by Amber Ferrari on Saturday, Aug. 14; Kids Dance Party on Friday, Aug. 27; and, lastly, Milagro on Saturday, Aug. 28. All concerts are at Shorefront Park from 7 to 9 p.m. They are free and open to the public.

This will be the first time the concert series will return since 2019.

The Bellport Village concert series has also been well underway, with future dates including: Seven Turns on Aug. 6, Hoo Do Loungers on Aug. 13, Stage Door School of Dance on Aug. 14, the New Students on Aug. 20, Captain Jack on Aug. 27 and Black Petals on Sept. 3. Shows start at 8 p.m. at the bandshell in the marina.

“All the trustees in the village and I are thrilled that the Friday night concert series has started again,” said Bellport Village mayor Ray Fell. “It’s something that was very much missed last year, and it’s nice to have some normalcy back in the village.”

This summer, Patchogue’s Parks and Recreation Department will also once again be offering the Snapper Derby. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 1-2 p.m. at Mascot Dock and sponsored by J & J Bait and Tackle, for ages 6 and up. Cost is $5 per single entry and $8 per team of two. “The Village of Patchogue is excited to announce we will be hosting our 37th annual Snapper Derby!” said Patchogue parks director Maria Giustizia.

Giustizia said she is also excited to reintroduce the 37th annual Old-Timer’s Day Game. The baseball game will be hosted on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. at Shorefront Park with a Sept. 5 rain date.
