Bayport-Blue Point boys varsity basketball had a splendid 2024-25 season, as they finished in second place in Suffolk County League VII and made a trip to the Suffolk County semifinals.
The Phantoms posted a 10-2 league record and stamped a 16-4 overall record for their winter campaign.
BBP b-ball had a three-game winning streak to conclude the regular season in early February, annihilating Pierson 79-32, dominating Mattituck 90-56, and overpowering Center Moriches 88-70.
In the Suffolk County Class A quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Phantoms spooked the Knights, defeating Elwood John Glenn 65-54 in the first round of the playoffs. The Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms jousted the Elwood John Glenn Knights and led by six points, 32-26, at halftime; then in the second half, BBP scored 33 points and EJG summated 28.
Dylan Craig tallied 24 points and Cormac Love registered 20. Evan Waldbauer scored eight, Colin Most posted six, Sean Deutscher notched four and Tyler McKillop scored three. Craig nailed a three-pointer, Waldbauer nabbed two triples, and Love accrued four from behind the arc in the 11-point first-round playoff victory.
The Phantoms fell to the Mount Sinai Mustangs in the Suffolk Class A semifinals at Longwood High School last Wednesday, March 5, 85-65. Craig posted 34 points, Evan Waldbauer scored eight, Brayden Waldbauer scored seven, Deutscher and Love each posted five, most registered four, and McKillop scored two.
Craig summated three three-pointers, and Love and Evan Waldbauer each notched one from behind the arc.
