A Pulitzer finalist at the Sayville Garden Club Luncheon

Posted

Victoria Johnson, Pulitzer and National Book Award finalist for “American Eden,” was the featured speaker at the Sayville Garden Club’s Spring Luncheon at Land’s End Restaurant. Johnson riveted her audience with her talk about her book’s subject, David Hosack, the 18th-century botanist who created this country’s first public botanical garden in Manhattan, the historical background at the time, the famous figures he befriended, and his importance to medicine. Listening were 225 people who signed up for the luncheon, which offered raffle items from local businesses.
