“Patchogue is open!” said Colony Shop owner Lori Belmonte as she prepared for this weekend.

The holiday-famous “Elf on the Shelf” will be making its Main Street, Patchogue, debut this Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28, and will be making its rounds throughout the season.

The promotion, “Elf ‘N Patchogue,” will feature locations where the elf will be placed; every day the location will change. Shoppers will be directed to different shops to find the elf and once found, a QR code will be provided with highlights to deals and special promotions offered by any given shop for finding the elf. There will be both a female and a male elf placed throughout the village each day, totaling over 50 spots.

Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce president David Kennedy hinted at a few possible locations the elves might appear, including the Colony Shop, Family Melody, Blum’s and a few different restaurants. To see the full schedule of where they might appear, go to www.patchogue.com.

Small Business Saturday will also feature the chamber’s annual shopping bag giveaway. About 200 bags will be supplied at the chamber booth located in front of the Patchogue Theatre throughout the day starting at noon.

During this time, members of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce have been instructed to decorate their storefronts for the holidays as soon as possible. Not only will they be on display for the public, but they will also be judged, with the winner being awarded the Leg Lamp from the classic movie, “A Christmas Story.” This year’s theme: “Holidays Around the World.” This year’s winner will be announced during the MoCA Lights Merry and Bright Show on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Congregational Church and Carnegie Library.

“The winner will receive the lamp and pride,” added Kennedy of the yearly tradition.
