Patchogue community response group distributing food to pantries

Posted

The Greater Patchogue COAD added $4,000 to the COVID-19 donations for a total of $10,000 in grant funds available earlier this month. The local chapter of COAD collected the additional $6,000 in donations for COVID-19 relief and plans to distribute the money to local food pan- tries in need.

“First, we must give a thank you to those in the community that donated to COAD’s relief fund... it’s very much appreciated,” said Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce executive director David Kennedy, also explaining that there is still time to donate on www.Patchogue.com. “With all that money, we have decided it would be best to use for our food kitchens and pantries that are in need. This is a project that continues into the long term.”

In addition to the food donations, the group also plans to make donations of personal-care items to the public. Applications for those in need, including pantries located in the Patchogue, Medford and East Patchogue area, will be accepted until July 10. Costs eligible for the money include food, equipment, diapers, feminine products, personal-care items, masks and gloves.

To submit, please include your name, address and phone number with your organizations tax ID number as well as a contact person and phone number. The amount available is up to $750 per organization and must also include what the funds will be used for. Applications can be submitted via email to info@patchogue.com or by mail to the Greater Patchogue Foundation Inc., 15 North Ocean Avenue, Patchogue NY 11772.
