Blue Point Brewing unveils boat: The Salty Bastard

Posted

Purchased in 2019, the Salty Bastard sits docked at Island View Marina in Patchogue. The boat is a 45-foot pontoon and will be sailing the Great South Bay this summer and fall, with plans to utilize the vessel for a multitude of purposes. A Blue Point spokesperson said they hope that programming will evolve over time.

Currently, it is being used for internal Blue Point Brewing Co. team events but might one day be used for education tours of the Great South Bay, in partnership with Save the Great South Bay and accompanied by, of course, oyster shucking and beer!

“If I had my way, I’d take the Salty Bastard out every day, showing folks the magnificent Great South Bay. The brewery’s history is so deeply rooted here,” said founder Mark Burford of the brewery’s newest asset. “Perhaps sharing beers on the Salty Bastard will spark a connection to the water that will last a lifetime. The bottom line is that kicking back on a boat with some great music and a can of Blue Point is really what we’re all about.”

The boat is also being used for tastings and live music events, as well as the brewery’s waterside restaurants and bar. Events are currently being scheduled, so keep your eyes out!
